Nepal Trekking Pilgrimage
SACRED PILGRIMAGE AND TREKKING THROUGH HOLY PLACES OF NEPAL
NEW DATES!
March 13-25, 2022
We did our first Nepal Pilgrimage last year and it was so amazing that we’ll definitely make it an annual event. Nepal was once an Indian kingdom so it has many holy places, sacred rivers, and ancient temples of Vishnu, Shiva, Kali & Krishna.
This will be a Bhakti saturated pilgrimage with half of the days trekking through the mind enchanting Annapurna Mountain range of the Himalayas. (Day hiking only. All luggage will be brought ahead for us.)
We’ll pick you up in Kathmandu airport and straight to the incredible UNESCO preserved town of Bhaktapur, aka the city of Bhakti, with incredible temples, palaces and monuments from the 14th century. An ideal spot to visit temples and do kirtan with the appreciative locals.
We’ll do a day of rafting on the Trishuli river and then settle in for bhajans and kirtan and evening sat sanga on a river bank hotel.
The next day we’ll drive to the lakeside town of Pokhara with it’s amazing views of the Annapurna mountain range. This is our launching point for our 5 day trek.
And the trek! Panoramic views of some of the world’s mightiest peaks while passing through rhododendron forests teeming with exotic birds, friendly Gurung villages, a small lake, scattered forests, picturesque rice fields, and a dip in the healing jhinu hot springs. We’ll stay in simple family run lodges with tasty local meals.
A couple more nights in the Pokhara resort (options for massage, paragliding, explore the town) and then fly to Kathmandu for another night stay in Bhaktapur which is also a shopping haven with the coolest Tibetan and Nepali art and handicraft you’ll ever see.
I’ll be bringing my famous assistant Janeswhara Prabhu who is a kirtan master and who has travelled to the holy places of Nepal and throughout the subcontinent of India many times. He’s an excellent resource for Vedic knowledge and culture. Our local Nepali guide and porters are also super friendly and experienced. A total pleasure to have them sharing their rich heritage and incredible hospitality with us.
I’m so excited to visit these sacred spots in this ancient Himalayan kingdom!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM RAGHUNATH
This trip is pilgrimage and as such, not designed to be a "vacation" or adventure travel, but rather a yogic learning experience. Of course, you will see many places and be guided in your travels, but the focus is on spiritual growth and not just sightseeing.
Nepal is a "3rd world" country. Please do not expect ANYTHING to be up to American or European standards. Students sit on the floor (if you need a chair due to health issues it can be arranged) and live simply. The pilgrimage includes Kirtan (group singing of traditional Sanskrit mantras) as well as Japa (individual chanting of mantras on meditation beads). Travel in Nepal can involve some austerity, but our teachers are all seasoned veterans of many pilgrimages. All reasonable measures will be taken to proved and care for students, but the environments through which we will travel will impose limits.
We request guests to follow a codes of behavior compatible with a yogic pilgrimage. This code includes eating exclusively vegetarian or vegan. No meat, fish or eggs. Consumption of alcohol, non-prescribed drugs and use of tobacco is not permitted. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave the trip at any stage and without any refund for breaching this code of conduct.
Students will see many sights in exotic locations, but the primary purpose of the trip is not sightseeing. We will practice asana, Japa meditation, do a lot of Kirtan, tell the stories of ancient India, chant mantras and otherwise explore the ancient yogic traditions. This training and journey have been designed in the hope it be a magical, transformative, and life-changing experience!
